Liturgical Signs and Prayers is a first-of-it's-kind resource for the Deaf Community and beyond. This will be a vital tool to parishes, the deaf ministers, interpreters and parents of deaf children to open the doors to Deaf Catholics in our community.

This DVD will be an important tool for priests in answering questions of the role of the interpreter and guidelines for using an interpreter present during a Liturgy. Also included on the DVD are Po9licies and Procedures of Using a Sign Language Interpreter as well as the texts of the Mass, and the Rites of Baptism, Marriage and Funeral. This will be beneficial to all inhaving the text available.

Parents will find it useful in their role as first catechists to their deaf children in the passing on of their faith through the use of sign language. Included in the DVD are prayers common to the Catholic faith as well as a glossary of terms and parts of the Mass. The Rites can be helpful to teach the children more about the rituals sacraments of Baptism and Marriage and the Funeral Rite.

The interpreter's role is vital to the success of deaf ministry. Through signing the Liturgy, the interpreter becomes a minister in the church enabling communication to flow from the altar to the deaf members of the congregation. This facilitation allows the deaf parishioners to be active participants in the Liturgy. Through the production of this DVD interpreters will have a tool to enhance their understanding of certain parts of the Mass and prayers to increase the effectiveness of their interpreting skills.

The DVD is accessible to all as it is voiced, signed and contains open captioning.

This DVD will be a tool not only to help those directly involved in Deaf Ministry, but will help increase awareness of all those who through curisity use it to learn more about faith through Sign Language.
