Currently, Ss. James and John has a student population of 231 students ranging from grades Pre-Kindergarten Three Year Olds through the Fifth Grade.  Over 90 percent of the students receive tuition assistance from the Cardinal Shehan Scholarship Fund, Partners In Excellence Scholarship Fund, Kids-R-VIPs Scholarship Fund, Children's Scholarship Fund and the Parish Tuition Assistance Program.  All of the students are African-American and come from a variety of areas in Baltimore City.

The Federal Government provides free and/or reduced lunches for over 182 students.  A Maryland State certified After-School program is available for parents from 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. each school day.  Services are received from the Maryland Textbook Funding, Chapter V and Chapter I Federal Government Program to assist students who are in need of remediation in reading and math.
