Training
Catholic Scouter Development - is a program to offer leaders the opportunity to reflect on their position as leaders in "Scouting as a Youth Ministry." In the Archdiocese of Baltimore the training is conducted in four sessions under the Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Scout Leaders and Units that would be interested in the program should contact the CCS Chair Vicki DeRuggiero.
Religious Emblem Counselor Training– is a program to train adult leaders to teach and administer the Religious Emblem programs of the Catholic Church for Scouts of the Catholic faith. Adults that would be interested in this training should contact Amy Spessard or J.D. Urbach.
Recognitions
Bronze Pelican Award - is an Archdiocesan recognition offered by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The Bronze Pelican is an earned award and has certain tenure, training and performance requirements listed on the application. Applications are due to the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting by December 1st.
St. George Emblem - The purpose of this emblem is to recognize the recipient for outstanding contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the program of the Boy Scouts of America. It must be borne in mind that the person does not seek the award; the award is to seek the person. - Worksheet for nomination and selection for St. George Emblem (Adobe Acrobat Format) Applications are due to the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting by December 1st.
Silver St. George Emblem - The purpose of this emblem is to recognize the recipient for outstanding contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth at the National level. Persons interested in nominating someone for this award should contact the Chair of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
The Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal - The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton recognition was inaugurated in 1980 to recognize the meritorious contributions of adults who serve Catholic youth through Girl Scouts and Camp Fire. This medal affirms the work of those who help youth develop their spiritual lives within the context of these organizations. It will ordinarily be received before the St. Anne Medal is earned, but is not a requirement for receiving the St. Anne Medal.
The Saint Anne Medal - The St. Anne Medal is the highest national recognition for adults who serve Catholic youth through Girl Scouts and Camp Fire. The recognition was inaugurated in 1957 and redesigned in 1980. The purposes of the St. Anne recognition are to honor the outstanding services of adults who contribute to the spiritual development of Catholic young people in these organizations and to further Catholic adult leadership in youth ministry through these national youth-serving organizations.
